Biography

• Her maiden name is listed as LANE on the death certificate of her son Marion Francis Perkins. On her son Isaac’s death certificate it is given as Aggnes S. COLE. Aggy settled in Lawrence Co., KY between 1843 and 1845, shortly after Henry Clay's birth, on a farm near Webbville, Lawrence County, KY, which she managed.^[1]

• According to information from Naomi Hammond, former post mistress at Webbville [now deceased], Aggy came to Lawrence Co. KY with three other girls [one named Jane or Ginny], driving a herd of sheep. This girl may have been Virginia/Jennie Perkins, b. abt. 1832. ^[2]
