Joseph Perkins was born in 1809 in Laughton, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of William and Martha Perkins. Joseph was baptised on 4 August 1809 at their local Anglican parish church in Laughton, Leicestershire, England.[1]
Joseph married Penelope Frances Kipling on 19 May 1835 in St. Giles and St. Mary Magdalene, Stony Stratford, Buckingham, England.[2]
On the 19th, at Stony Stratford, Bucks, Joseph Perkins, Esq. of Laughton, Leicestershire, to Penelope Frances second daughter of the Rev. Chas Kipling, Vicar of Stoney Stratford, and Rector of Coston, Leicestershire. (Stamford Mercury - Friday 29 May 1835, p. 3) [3]
In the 1851 census Joseph (age 42) was living with his wife and 7 children in Laughton, Leicestershire, England. Also living in their home was a governess and 3 servants. He was employed as a farmer of 158 acres.[4]
In the 1891 census, on April 5, Joseph (age 82) was living with his wife, 4 children and 3 servants in Laughton, Laughton, Leicestershire, England.[5]
Joseph Perkins died on 23 May 1891 in Laughton, Leicestershire, England at the age of 82 years.[6] He was buried on 29 May 1891 in Laughton, [7] and his estate passed probate on 7 August 1891 in Principal Registry.[8]
PERKINS Joseph. Personal Estate 2,248 16s. 6d. 7 August. The Will with a Codicil of Joseph Perkins late of Laughton in the County of Leicester Gentleman who died 23 May 1891 at Laughton was proved at the Principal Registry by Joseph Perkins and Alfred Kipling Perkins both of Laughton Gentlemen the Sons the Executors.
