Biography

William Brewster married, as his second wife, to Prudence ______ shortly after the birth of his first son (c 1567). It has been postulated that her maiden name may have been Perkins or she may have been a widow of that name, but not with any confidence.[1] She has also been mistakenly called Prudence Peck but no evidence for that LNAB has been found. Peck is likely a conflation with her daughter, Prudence (Brewster) Peck.

William and Prudence had three children:[1]

  • James, born about 1568[?], died 1613;[1] possibly married Mary Welbeck with whom he had four daughters.[2]
  • Prudence, married Robert Pecke and had children;[1]
  • John.[1]

Prudence survived her husband, who died in 1590.[1]

I propose the removal of the estimated birthdate, marriage date, and death location, conforming to the latest publication by Sue Allan.

Prudence's maiden name should be changed to "Unknown." As of research published by Sue Allen in 2016, Prudence's origins are still unknown.

What is the relationship between this woman and her son-in-law?

PMs - there is no evidence for her LNAB Peck. The source (online tree) attached for LNAB Peck has no source and is very likely incorrect. Please change her LNAB to Unknown until someone can provide evidence that the name is legitimate. Her daughter Prudence married Peck, their profiles could be conflated. Her husband is a "5 Star" WikiTree profile, so it is important that our information is as accurate as possible on this profile. Thanks!

Perkins-7542 and Peck-64 appear to represent the same person because: 7542 has no sources or relationships. The merge is based on Names and birthdate.
