Biography

Edmondus, son of Henrici Perrye, was baptised on 27 January 1599 in Buckland Monachorum, Devon, England.[1]

Named in a will by his uncle, William Perry of Limerick ( died 1633 ) as executor, residential legatee, and principal heir.

Research Notes

Fitgerald's History, topography and antiquities of the county and city of Limerick (1827) states: "The Perys appear to have been an Exeter family. The first ancestor of Lord Pery who settled in Limerick, was Edmond, Esq. who died about the year, 1655. He married Susanna, only child and heiress of Stephen Sexton, Esq. Mayor of Limerick in 1585 ..."[2]

Edmund's will, held in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, was dated May 16th 1654, and proven March 26th 1655.

Therein he names his wife, Susan, and his sons William and Edmond as his executors, his nephew Edmond Sexten, and his kinsman Peter Pery of London, merchant. Edmond also mentions his own sisters, but does not name them. Perhaps someone in the Euroaristo project could update the sources, please ?

I suspect there may be 2 Edmunds, the one who died in the US, the other who died in the UK. Bearing in mind that some data was sourced from Ancestry, it is hardly surprising that there are factual conflicts and confusion arises.

I tend to agree, although I question the idea that he died in the US. I tried to change/complete the name of his spouse, but it would not let me, even though I am the manager of this profile. We will have to wait for other managers to act.

Four Edmund Perry's have the same exact birthday and were all born in Devon England. Two of the fathers have the same name (but are different ID's), 3 have the same spouse first name, UNK last name, 2 are listed as dying in 1614, one in UK, one in the same city/area name, but listed with Massachusetts instead of England. It appears that all 4 of these could be the same person: Perry-5009, Perry-4421, Perry-4658, and Perry-1156. Does anyone have any further insight to facilitate merging them?
