Joseph Perry was born in 1676 in Fairfield, Connecticut. He was the son of Nathaniel Perry and Esther Lyon.
In 1705, Joseph bought Perry's Mill from the town and built a dam there. The property has been in the family until at least 1882. He had other property in Fairfield and was considered "an important personage." The house he build in Fairfield
He first married Sarah Buckley (1680–1710), daughter of John Buckley, about 1708- they had no children.
He then married Deborah Burr Whelpley (1680–1718), widow of Joseph Whelpley, daughter of Daniel Burr, about 1710. He and Deborah had:

He last married Mary Clugstone (1698-8 November 1773), daughter of Michael Clugstone and Mary Wakeman in 1718.
They had, all baptised in Fairfield:

Michael or Micah (1721 - 10 Sep 1797) m. Grace Sturgis
He died 9 August 1753. His will was dated 15 March 1753 and proven 7 September 1753 leaving sums of money to Abigail, Mary, Esther, Sarah and land to his 6 sons. His inventory was taken on 19 September 1753. Included in the inventory is an enslaved black woman and an enslaved black girl. Their names are not recorded.[1]
He is buried in the Ye Old Burying Ground of Fairfield, next to two unmarked graves, assumed to be his first two wives.
Mary died one day shy of twenty years later. She would marry Thomas Edmunds.
