Herbert Henry Perry married Emily Farler at the Langton Street Wesleyan Chapel, Bristol, England, in the 2nd quarter of1907.[3]The marriage certificate gives the date as 6 April 1907. Emily's father is Alfred Farler, labourer. Herbert Henry Perry's father is Herbert George Perry (deceased). NB Edward Gaskell is recorded as present at the marriage. The residence of the bride and groom is given as 11 Guinea Street, Bristol, England.[4]

In 1909, Herbert, 27, crossed from Canada into the United States. His arrival in Port Huron, Michigan was recorded in June 1909, and his birth as Bristol in 1882. [5]
By the 1910 US census, his family have emigrated to the USA and Herbert 29, is living in Flint Ward 5, Genesee, Michigan, with his wife Emmie (Emily), 25. and their son Stanley, 3. [6]
In 1930, Herbert and his wife Emily are living in Flint, Michigan, with their children Herbert W, 19, Evelyn, 14, and Robert,3. Also there are Edward Gaskell , 76, and his wife Rosina, 62, visiting from England. [7] They are Emily's adopted parents (Rosina is Emily's aunt ) whom Emily went to live with after the death of her mother Bessie in 1890 )
Herbert's 1942 Draft Registration for WWII has him residing in 2317 Flushing Road, Flint, Genesee, Michigan, USA and gives his birth date as 31 March 1882 in Bristol, England. [8]
