When Lula was 42 she married Morris Gilbert Chayter on 10 April 1930. The couple had 3 children: Morris Whitfield Chayter, Gladys I. Chayter and Hilda M. Chayter. [1]

Lula died at the age of 91 in May 1978 in Mount Vernon, Skagit County, Washington.[4]
