Francis Perry owned 300 acres in 1752.
Francis was found in the muster rolls of Col. William Eaton's Regiment in Capt. Osborne Jeffrey's Company in 1754, as were 5 of his brothers ( all except Burrell). This army was raised to defend the inhabitants against the Indians in the French and Indian War. These troops were the first troops raised by the colony for service outside its own borders.
Francis Perry is found in Wake County, NC, in land transactions up through 1810.
Francis passed away in 1814 in Wake County, North Carolina, USA. His will was probated in 1814
Last Will and Testament of Francis F. Perry located in Wake County, RB-11 page 315, 1814. In the name of God, Amen. I, Francis Perry, of Wake County in the State of North Carolina in sound sense and memory calling to mind that is is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Weill and Testament in manner and form following (Viz): First, I bequeath my soul to almighty God who gave it to me and my body to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like manner; Trusting in a glorious resurrection through the merits of my dear Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Item. I lend to my loving wife, Salley Perry during her natural life or widowhood all my lands and plantations on where I now live and adjoining thereto. Item. I give and bequeath to my loving wife, Salley Perry, two feather beds and furniture, two cows and calves, one sorrel mare by the name of Fancy, and the forth part of all my stock of hogs, and one pine table with all my chairs, and one walnut chest, and the hunting saddle and riding chair, and all my kitchen furniture, the bofat and the contents thereof. And I also give to my wife, Salley Perry, two negro women by the name of Old Beck and Violet to her and her heirs forever and I also give unto my loving wife, Salley Perry, my negro man, San and Murfee, and my negro woman, Jenny, to her and to her heirs forever and one years support of provision for her and her family which I leave her. Item. I lend to my loving daughter, Mary Truelove, two Negroes by the name of Betty and Nilsey with their increase and after her decease to my grandson, Thomas Truelove, to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give to my loving daughter, Mable Williams, three Negroes to wit, Anna and her son, Claiborne, with one Negro man, Sam, to her and her heirs forever. Item. I give to my loving daughter, Salley Hunter, three Negroes to wit, Fanny, Pender, and Milley, and their increase to her and her heirs forever. Item. I lend to my loving daughter, Agness Maguhes, three Negroes by the names of Warrick, Pender, and Isham and one sorrel mare by the name of Pleasure and at her deceasie I give and bequeath the said Negroes Warrick and Pender to my loving grand daughter, Rhoda Maguhes, and the said sorrell mare and the said negro boy, Isham, to be sold and the money arising from the sale of the said, Isham, to be equally divided between Patsy Spain, my grand daughter, and my grand son, Francis Spain, and to them and to their heirs forever. Item. I also give to my loving daughter, Agness Maguhes, one feather bed and furniture to her and to her heirs forever. Item. The rest of my estate consisting of Negroes, horses and hogs and the land after my wife's life or widowhood all of my other property that is not willed away, I leave to be equally divided between my chidren. Say: Sion Perry, Francis Perry, Nathan Perry, Aaron Perry, Darling Perry, William Perry, Ann Bridges, Rachael Arundal, Olive Wright, Hamar Parham, and the heirs of James Lowery with the valuation of the property I have let them have hereto fore. And, I constitute and appoint my worthy friend, David Justice, my whole and sole executor to this my last Will and Testament in witness thereof I have hitherto put my hand and affixed my seal this Tenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen. The above will indicates that his wife was Salley, but this was his second wife and he was her second husband. Her will indicates that her maiden name was Salley Seawell and her first husband's name was John King. She had children from her first marriage, but non from her second. We know from the grave stone of William Perry, buried in Tennessee, that his first wife's name was Mabel, maiden name unknown.
