Biography

Birth: 1793, North Carolina, USA. Death: Jan. 17, 1883, Brown Co., Illinois.

Luke was a son of Nathan Perry and Rebecca (Yarborough). He grew up in North Carolina and Tennessee. On July 27, 1814, he married Elizabeth "Betsy" McNew - daughter of John and Sarah McNew. They had children: William, Benjamin, Elisha, Edmund,Reuben, Gideon, James and Green. Green died young.

Between 1831 and 1840 this family moved from Tennessee to Brown County, Illinois where they settled.

Note: There is a Luke Perry from Tennessee listed on the Rolls of the War of 1812. I do not know if this is on this particular Luke Perry but there is the following information for follow up: 2 REG'T (LILLARD'S) EAST TENNESSEE VOLS. Rank - Induction: PRIVATE Rank - Discharge: PRIVATE Roll Box: 163 Microfilm Publication: M602
