Biography

Robert, son of Harry Parry & Margaret Roberts, was born on 9 December 1784 and baptised on 12 December 1784 in Trelawnyd, Flintshire, Wales.[1][2]

"The first marriage in the township [Scioto, adjacent to Radnor] was that of Robert Perry, who wooed and won the fair Sarah Hoskins. The ceremony took place in the log cabin of Richard Hoskins in 1808" [3]

He is recorded in Radnor, Ohio, at age 65, with wife Sarah, age 62, and 2 others: Margaret Parry (19) and Lewis Wolfley (17). [2] Almost all other heads of household on that census page were also born in Wales.

Robert passed away in 1852. He is buried at Radnor Cemetery, where his obelisk tombstone is engraved with his date of death and age. [4]

In the History of Delaware County: "The first marriage in the township was that of Robert Perry, who wooed and won the fair Sarah Hoskins. The ceremony took place in the log cabin of Richard Hoskins in 1808, and was performed by the Rev. Cloud, a Methodist minister, who had traveled all the way from Franklinton for."

Research Notes

  • It is possible that his parents are Henry Perry and Margaret (Unknown) Perry. The Perrys in the early 1800s in Delaware County all seem to have been from the same family in Wales. I have not found a Welsh birth record for Robert, but have for his likely siblings Levi and Leah. Weatherall-96 20:54, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
  • I believe that the birth date is off by a little bit. I have changed to what I believe to be correct according to a source found. Trelawnyd is only 3.8 miles from Whitford where other siblings were born.Sundvall-27 01:55, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
