William was described in 1918 as being of medium height and stout build with hazel eyes and brown hair.[1]
Record Quirks & Errors
William's Rhode Island birth record specifies his birth year as 1885,[2] but William himself stated his birth year as 1884.[1] I've used 1884 for the time being and marked the information as 'uncertain'.
William is referred to simply as "Eli Perry" on his birth record.[2]
William's middle name is misspelled "Elie" on his WWI registration card.[1]
