John Peters was born in 1834 in Beeding, Sussex, England to Philip Peters and Eleanor (Evans) Peters - he was christened on 2 Feb 1834 in Upper Beeding.[1]
In 1841 John Peters (age 6) lived in Beeding with his father Philip (30-34, Ag Lab), mother Eleanor (25-29), and five siblings: David (10), Lydia (8), Ellen (5), Edmund (3), and Harriet (3 months), as well as three others: Philip Goddard (25-29, Tailor), Ruth Goddard (30-34, Dress Maker), and Kitty Goddard (50-54).[2]
In 1851 John Peters (age 17, Agr Labr) lived at Fox Hall in Upper Beeding with his father Phillip (47, Agr Labr), mother Eleanor (44), and three siblings: Edward (12, Agr Labr), Harrt (10, Scholar), and Ann (6, Scholar).[3]
John Peters (age 25, Bachelor, Labourer, son of Philip Peters, Labourer) and Harriet Smith (age 30, Spinster, Servant, daughter of William Smith, Soldier) were married on 21 Jun 1859 at St Peter's in Upper Beeding - the witnesses were Daniel Peters & Mary Ann Smith.[4] The marriage was registered in Steyning, Sussex in the second quarter of the year.[5]
In 1861 John Peters (age 27, Groom & Gardener) lived at High Street in Upper Beeding with his wife Harriot (32) and daughter Harriot (8 months).[6]
John's wife Harriet Peters passed away in 1866.
John Peters (of full age, Widower, Labourer, son of Philip Peters, Labourer) and Emily Keene (of full age, Spinster, daughter of Benjamin Keene, Baker) were married on 28 Jul 1867 at St Andrew's in Steyning - the witnesses were James Wicks & Ruth Golds.[7] The marriage was registered in Steyning in the third quarter of the year.[8]
In 1871 John Peters (age 37, Carpenter) lived at 4 King Street in St James Westminster, London with his wife Emily (36) and two daughters: Harriet (10, Scholar) and Clara (5, Scholar).[9]
John's wife Emily Peters passed away in 1880.
In 1881 John Peters (age 47, Saw Machinist (Sawyer)) lived at 66 King Street in St James Westminster with his daughter Harriett E (20, Housekeeper).[10]

In 1901 John Peters (age 67, Wood Sawyer) lived at 67 Kings Street in St James Westminster with two daughters: Harriet E (40) and Clara (35).[11]
