Biography

Parents John Peters and Sarah McManes. (not sure on mother's surname).

In the 1841 England Census, eighteen-year-old Frances is living at home with her parents and siblings Walter, George and John. They are living on the High Street in Sittingbourne. Father John's occupation is van driver.

Frances and husband Edward Draper have their first child William about 1842 as he is baptised in May 1842.

Occupations at 1861 Census: Edward was working as a fishmonger; Frances (Fanny) was a rag cutter at a paper mill; Isabella working as a servant.

Husband Edward Draper passes away in 1866.

In the 1871 Census Frances and four of her youngest children are living in Plaxtol Street Cottages, Plaxtol. "No occupation" is written on the document in regard to Frances.

On 17 Jun 1876 Frances marries widower and bricklayer John James (his father bricklayer Robert James) at Plaxtol, Kent, England.

In the 1901 England Census Frances is recorded as a pauper at Dartford workhouse. There's a Feb 1902 burial at Christ Church Bexley Heath which has her residence as a Workhouse in Dartford, Kent.

• Unable to locate marriage record for Frances Peters and husband Edward Draper. Presumably this occurred between the June 1841 England Census and before first child William was baptised in May 1842.
• Different or same person [?] - same name and similar age - Frances Peters of Sittingbourne - appears in 1841 Census [birth year 1823.]
• Father's name in document is 45 y.o. van driver John Peters and mother is 46 y.o. Sarah Peters.
• There is a 15 Jan 1846 burial record for same Sittingbourne location and name Frances Peters aged 23 years [birth year 1823.]
• According to Ancestry.com DNA Thrulines Frances has three half-siblings Moses Peters (b. 1813-1889), Daniel Peters (b. 1837-1902) and Maria Peters (b. 1837).
