Biography

Tobyas was born in 1778. He passed away in 1830.

1. VA: Greenbrier; Rehoboth Church, 4 May 1797, Petters, Tobyas and Scarborough, Eliza by Rev. J. Wiseman. Greenbrier Co. became part of West VA. (Monroe) in 1863.

2. TN: Anderson; 1 Jan 1803---James Scarbrough sells 120 acres of land for $1.50 to Tobias. It was part of the 600 acres that James Scarbrough lived on. (Anderson Co. Deed Book A-1, pg. 84.)

3. TN: Anderson, 12 Mar 1804; Tobas Peters, John Golson, Nathan Haile, Hezikiah Love, Thoas Kincaid and Acquilla Johnson are appointed to view and lay off a road from James Scarbro's Ferry on Clinch River to intersect a road leading from the Pawpaw Ford.

4. TN: Anderson; 11 Oct 1811---Tobias Peters and Samuel Scurlock in court to prove deed from John Scarbrougn to James Scarbrough.

5. TN: Anderson; 1814---Corporal, E. Tennessee Militia, War of 1812; Bunch's Regiment.

6. TN: Anderson; 21 May 1821---William Scarbrough to Tobias Peters, John Scarbrough, Caleb Low, Robert Scarbrough, Spencer Keith, James Richmond, and Henry Peters, trustees of Bethel Meeting house for the Methodist Church of Anderson and Knox counties, "for the good will and feeling I have for the cause of religion," 1 acre and 26 poles in Anderson, on north side of Clinch River, passing through the head of a spring, to a stake near the road, to the beginning. Witnessed by Thomas Peters, William Scarbrough, Robert Scarbrough (Anderson County Deed Book A-1, pg. 188; Reg. 11 Apr 1821)
