John was born in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri.

He married Harriet Bennett and had at least ten children (six girls, four boys):

John died in Del Norte, Rio Grande County, Colorado.

San Juan Prospector dated May 28, 1926:

John Logan Peters was born in Illinois February 20, 1873 and died at the home of his father-in-law Mr. William M. Bennett in Del Norte on May 21, 1926 as the result of cancer of the stomach.

He was left an orphan when only nine years old and spent most of his boyhood in Missouri. When a young man he went to Kansas. On June 27, 1898, he was married to Harriet Bennett at La Cygne, Kansas and they spent most of their time near Paola, Kansas until they moved to Monte Vista in July, 1920 for the health of Mr. Peters who has suffered for several years with asthma. To this union there was born ten children, all of whom were with him at the last with the exception of Ruth Margaret who died in 1918 with the flu.

Mr. Peters became a member of the Methodist church when a very young man. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Harriet Peters and their children David Peters of Del Norte, Mrs. Glenn Morris of Alva, Wyoming, Mrs. Herman Horst of Alamosa, Mrs. Howard Hart of Monte Vista, and George, Donald, Nettie, Theodore, and Ida, all of Del Norte.
