On his son James Cornelius death cert James wife Elizabeth records that her father in law was James Marriner Peters, ex-Army. On James Cornelius marriage cert he records his father as Cornelius Peters, Seaman.
It is unlikely that James got it wrong on his marriage cert., and Elizabeth probably failed to remember the details years later, after her own husbands death.
