Biography

Warren Osmer, who went by 'Osmer' and is sometimes shown in official records as 'Osmer Warren' was born in 1912, the son of Ulysses Peters and Orlena Albertson. [1] By 1930, his mother Lena had died and his father had remarried to Rosa (Phibbs) Price, whose son Carroll Price, age 14, also resided with them. [2]

He married on 16 Sep 1933 at Albany, Kentucky to Lula Watson [3] [4] and they had a son: [5] [6]

  1. Warren E.

In 1942, at the age of 30, Osmer left his job in the textile industry, enlisted in the Army at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on the first anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and served in World War II as an Army Private First Class. [7] Osmer at one time served as General Patton's driver in the "Rainbow Brigade" of the 42nd Infantry. After his son was born, Osmer went Absent Without Leave (AWOL) to go home and see his son, and then he returned to duty in Europe. [5]

Osmer passed away in 1969 at the age of 56 and is buried at Knoxville National Cemetery in Tennessee. [8]
