Myrtle Gertrude Petersen was born on Oct. 1, 1895 to Peter Petersen and Christine Jorgensen. She was raised in Litchville, North Dakota where she attended school and also at Valley City Normal.
She taught school for two years.
Myrtle married Selmer Hedahl on Jun. 16, 1915 in Litchville, North Dakota. They became the parents of four children; Myrtilla (Merlie), Evelyn, Verne and Orril. Their daughter, Evelyn, died of the Spanish flu in 1918.
They lived in North Dakota until moving to Silverdale, Washington in 1924. Selmer was employed at Silverdale Poultry Association from 1925-1945 and later worked in real estate and insurance. He died in 1954.[1]
Myrtle Hedahl died at the age of 98 years at the Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale, Washington on Jun. 6, 1994.[2][3]
