Born in 1821 in Fredericksburgh, Darius Dunham Peterson (later he dropped "Darius") in early 1852 married Mary Helen Gibbs and they were with his parents--he a laborer--in that year's census. In later 1852 they apparently lived in Kingston Township, Frontenac County, Concession 3 Lot 14, where their only child was born and, nine weeks later, Mary Helen died. In 1857 Dunham married his young cousin, Charlotte Ann Peterson. In 1861 they were farming in Sophiasburgh Township, with their two children, who died young. He probably died by 1871 (not in that year's census). The gravemarker headed "Darius D. Peterson" of wife Mary Helen is at the Adolphustown Cemetery (Dorland Church); it's not clear whether that is also his grave.
Unpublished records of Malcolm G. Powley-67, Dunham's grandson.
