Biography

James Archibald Peterson was born around 1849 in Ameliasburgh Township, Prince Edward County, Ontario. In 1878 he married Sarah Ann Switzer in Adolphustown, Lennox County. They farmed with and lived with Ann's parents in Adolphustown. No children are listed with them in 1881-1901 censuses. James died there in 1924. He was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Napanee.

Footnotes

James' birth year inferred from seven census records plus a death record ranges from 1846 to 1851. Two statements of his birth year are October 1850 (1901 census) and October 1849 (1911 census). 1849 seems the best compromise.

On his father-in-law Benjamin Switzer: He and Hester Ann lived first in Camden (East) Township and then moved to Ernestown Township sometime before 1851 ; for the 1851, 1861 and 1871 census, Benjamin and Hester Ann were in Ernestown Township ; in 1874, Egerton gave his residence as Hallowell [Prince Edward County] in his marriage record ; by 1881, Benjamin was farming with his son-in-law, James Archibald Peterson, in Adolphustown, Lennox County, and living with him, his daughter (Sarah Switzer Peterson), and 3 of his other children (William, Margaret and Mary) ; by 1891, Benjamin Switzer and his daughter, Margaret, were living in a house beside James A Peterson and Sarah Peterson in Adolphustown, Lennox County - from Norma Earl. http://www.switzergenealogy.com/getperson.php?personID=I715&tree=Switzer

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
