May Emma Cook was born in NZ to William Richard and Emma Cook. A son's obituary (1943) notes her father as "the late Mr W. R. Cook of the firm Cook and Gray, Wellington". [1]
In 1910, Henry Edward Peterson and May Emma Cook married in New Zealand. [2] May and Henry had at least four children together: Eric Edward 1911/13633, Jean Esther 1917/9688, Leslie Branscombe 1919/8399, and Keith Cyril Peterson 1920/18506. [3] Henry died in Masterton, Wairarapa, New Zealand on 17 September 1922.
In 1924, May had another daughter, and in 1928 she and Thomas Henry Wilmshurst married. [4]
Her son's obituary (noted above) also mentions that she owned a farm in Puketaha.
May Emma Wilmshurst was buried on 17 August 1966 at Palmerston North Cemetery, in the same plot as Thomas Wilmshurst. [5]
