Biography

Eunice was daughter of Ebenezer Petty and Elizabeth Bogard. Elizabeth Bogard died 1785 that left everything to daughters Ann Mace md to Nicholas Mace and Eunice Harness wife of John.

1786 Hardy County book John Harness, will 6/12/1810, Dev: Unice (Eunice), wife; Adam, Joseph, sons; Jemima Cunningham, Elizabeth Welton, Hannah Hull, Sarah Cunningham, daughters; others.

Eunice died June 16, 1823; Will written 11/11/1823, probated Dec 9, 1823 Mentions Solomon Harness, Jacob Harness as witness, Exec. Adam Harness and Wm Cunningham.

Daughter Elizabeth Welton, wife to Michael Welton; daughters Jemima Cunningham, Sarah Cunningham, Hannah Hull and decd daughter Rebecca Cunningham-her daughter Unice Cunningham. Estate sale also mentions (niece?) Unice Harness, wife of Jacob Harness who purchased bedstead and mattress.

Research Note: There appears to be 2 Eunice Petty's: an aunt and a niece both married to two Harness brothers: Aunt Eunice to John Harness, niece Eunice to Jacob Harness.

Helen Yoakum Black Letter 1872: "Grand father Harness [Michael Ernst/Harness] raised 13 children, men and women grown, nine sons and four daughters. Jacob died suddenly from being bled. Leonard married a Ta---- and went to Illinois. Peter married and went to Ohio. He was lame. John married Eunice Petty. George married Elizabeth Yoakum. Jacob 2nd married Eunice Petty a niece of Uncle John's wife...."

If Eunice died 16 June 1823, how could her will have been written 11/11/1823? She would have to die after the will was written, if this reference is to her will. I am going to change this to "Bef. 09 Dec 1823", when the will was probated.
Petty-890 and Petty-343 appear to represent the same person because: same name and dates, same spouse name, same child details
