Biography

Prudence, daughter of Valentine Peyton, married Burwell Logwood in Bedford County, Virginia on July 20, 1794:

Jul. 19, 1794; Burwell Logwood & Pruey Peyton; Gross Scruggs, Surety; Married by Jeremiah Hatcher, July 20, 1794.[1]

Birth/Death Dates

Prudence Peyton is the daughter of Valentine Peyton, as stated in his will.[2] Her birth (between 1766 and 1785) and death (after 1785) dates are based on the will, which was written December 20, 1785.

She was the second child named in the will, and none of his children were of 21 when it was written. This means none of the children could have been born earlier than December 21, 1764. Assuming one child a year, and no twins, that would make 1766 the earliest birth year for Prudence and 1785 the latest.

The following abstract of her father's will is based on the transcription included on the profile of Valentine Peyton (with the note "not this Valentine?"):[3]

Peyton-779 and Peyton-1039 appear to represent the same person because: Hi! These appear to be for the same person (use your dates - the dates for Peyton-779 are guesses based on information from her father's will). Thanks!
