Death: Jun. 20, 1917 Iowa, USA

Sylvia Rosetta Peyton was born the daughter of Thomas Peyton and Cora (Vesper) Chapman near Troy Mills, Buchanan County, Iowa. Thomas is buried this cemetery and Cora is buried in Holy Seputchre Cemetery in Worth, Illinois. Three other infants who are buried this cemetery also preceded them in death. They are Delores Louise, Doris Lorena and Nancy Jane. Cora later left Thomas and took two children, Lawrence Alvin Michael Peyton Sr. and Anna Louise Peyton to Chicago, Illinois, but Sylvia stayed with her father, Tom and his sister Rosie Reece. Sylvia was to graduate from the 8th grade and her aunt made her a white dress, but she had heart trouble and pneumonia and died and was buried in the white dress a month later.

~0bit~Sylvia Rosetta, daughter of Thomas and Cora Peyton, was born near Troy Mills, on July 9, 1905, and died June 20, 1917, at Iowa City, where she was taken for medical treatment. Sylvia was a member of the Busy Bee workers, and was always faithful to her Sunday school work, having her name on the honor roll. Although she had been in poor health for several months, she was always bright and cheerful and had by her pleasing ways endeared herself to many friends. She is survived by her father, mother, one brother, Lawrence Alvin Peyton, one sister, Anna Louise Peyton, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her early departure. We loved her yes, we loved her, But the angels loved her more, They have sweetly called her To yonder shining shore. The golden gate was opened and a gentle voice said, "Come" And with the farewell invitation, She calmly entered in.

~0bit~Miss Sylvia Peyton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Peyton of Troy Mills, died at a hospital in Iowa City, last Wednesday night at nine o'clock, where she had been taken only the day before for treatment of heart trouble. Mr. Peyton took his daughter to Iowa City last Tuesday morning where whe was to receive treatment for heart trouble which she had been suffering off and on for some time. On Wednesday he received a telegram stating that if he expected to see his daughter alive to come at once. All haste was made to her bedside, but by the time that he arrived she had passed away. Sylvia Peyton was the twelve year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Peyton of Troy Mills, and besides her father and mother she leaves to mourn her loss one brother, Leonard, and sister, Anna. The funeral will take place this afternoon at two o'clock from the Christian Church, with Rev. Lafe Hoff in charge of cermonies Interment will be in Troy Mills.
