European Aristocracy
Elisabeth Auguste Pfalz-Neuburg was a member of the aristocracy in Europe.

Biography

Elisabeth Auguste Sophie, was the daughter of Karl III Philipp von Pfalz, and his first wife Ludwika Radziwiłł, and was born on 17 March 1693 at Brieg. She was the only child of her father to survive into adulthood.

Her father succeeded his brother Johann Wilhelm as Kurfurst von der Pfalz (Elector Palatine) in 1716 and the following year on 2 May at Innsbruck, she married her distant cousin, Joseph Karl Emanuel August, Erbprinz von Pfalz-Sulzbach.

They had seven children;[1]

  1. Karl Philipp August Franz Theodor, born 17 March 1718 at Neuburg an der Donau, died young 31 March 1724 at Mannheim, and was buried in St Michael, München;
  2. Innocenz Maria, born and died 7 May 1719 at Heidelberg, and was buried in the Carmelite Monastery there;
  3. Elisabeth Maria Aloysia Auguste, born 17 January 1721 at Mannheim;
  4. Maria Anna Josepha, born 22 June 1722 at Schwetizingen;
  5. Maria Franziska Dorothea Christina, born 15 June 1724 at Schwetzingen;
  6. Karl Philipp August, born 24 November 1725 at Mannheim, died there 6 May 1727 and was buried at St Michael, München;
  7. Daughter (unnamed), stillborn 28 January 1728, probably at Mannheim.[2]

Elisabeth died of the effects of childbirth on either the 29 or 30 January 1728[3] at Mannheim and was buried at St Michael, München.

Her three surviving daughters all married Wittelsbach cousins, and the descendants of her youngest surviving daughter became Kings of Bavaria.
