John, the third son and sixth of nine children of Timothy Phelps and Abigail Merrick was born on 7 May 1734 at Suffield, Connecticut.
Marriages and Children
John was married twice, possibly three times. He married 1) Mary Richardson (1734-1776), the daughter of William and Abigail Richardson of Edinburgh, Scotland say 1754 at Suffield, Connecitcut.[1] John and Mary had eleven children born at Tolland County, Connecticut:

This profile needs a great deal of work, and corrections have been requested by DataDoctors for some time now. There is no evidence/documentation to suggest that this Judge John Phelps, Esq. was married to Mary Convers-20, the daughter of Josiah Converse-294 and Eleanor Richardson-8374. She is connected/married to John Phelps-360, the son of Timothy Phelps-384 and Sarah Brown-4047 and they do have a daughter Sarah Phelps-380. I believe Sarah has been conflated with other children belonging to Judge John Phelps-2092 and his first wife, Mary Richardson of Scotland.
There are records/information to suggest that Judge John Phelps-2091 was married at least twice. His first wife was Mary Richardson, the daughter of William and Lady Abigail Richardson of Edinburgh, Scotland (https://archive.org/details/phelpsfamilyofam01phel/page/186/mode/1up?view=theater. Pages 185-16). They were married quite young, say 1752-1754 at Connecticut, Mary Richardson being all of 15 years of age. Mary's mother, Abigail Richardson died in 1772. Mary (Richardson) Phelp's death is listed as 18 April 1776 at Stafford, Connecticut, which may be correct, or may conflated with the death for Mary Convers-20, who married John Phelps-360. If you read the headstone for Mary Convers-20, it says she was married to "Capt." John Phelps not Judge John Phelps or John Phelps, Esq.
Judge John Phelps-2092 was married at least twice. Mary (Richardson) Phelps died say 1776 and he married as his second wife Bathsheba (Brewster) Chappell-Husford on 12 February 1786 at Hebor, Tolland, Connecticut for which there is a sourced marriage record.
There is a possibility that Judge John Phelps-2092 could have married between the death of first wife Mary (Richardson) Phelps and last wife Bathsheba (Brewster) Chappell-Husford-Phelps if Mary (Richardson) Phelps died in 1776 and his marriage to Bathsheba occurred in 1786, there could have been a marriage 'in between'. This original profile was largely unsourced; however, the PM did indicate that Judge John Phelps' first wife was Mary Richardson, then listed only Bathsheba (Brewster) C-H-P. He did not mention a marriage to a Mary Converse.
I have listed the marriage information and children from FamilySearch for Judge John and Mary (Richardson) Phelps along with sources for births/deaths, etc. I also detached the Mary Convers-20 profile with her husband John Phelps-360 in order to help determine who belongs to whom. The profile for Mary (Convers-20) Phelps and her husband John Phelps-360 still exist on WikiTree; however, the only child that belongs to them is Sarah, the others likely belong to Judge John and Mary (Richardson) Phelps. PMs please review, search and make any corrections. Thank you! This is how I spent at least 5 hours of Connect-A-Thon time on 15 July 2022.
