Biography

Richard was born about 1820. He is the son of Thomas Phillips and Sara Cunliffe. [1] Richard Parr Hiram Phillips married Margaret P. who was born Mar 1825 in Ireland and died 9 May 1907 in Mt. Pleasant, Foster Township, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. Richard Parr Hiram Phillips was in Co. A. 136 Pennsylvania Volunteers in the Civil War.

Richard Parr Hiram and Margaret P. Phillips had children:

  1. Thomas Cunliffe Phillips born July 1855 in Mt. Pleasant and married Susanna P. Higham born July 1859 in Barry Township, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. They had five children.
  2. Joseph Parr Hiram Phillips born 6 Jan 1857 in Mt. Pleasant and married Eleanor Orme born Oct 1861 in Foster Township, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. Eleanor was the daughter of James Orme and Mary Ann Shuttleworth and the stepdaughter of James Dando. Eleanor's mother Mary Ann Shuttleworth was the daughter of James and Ellen Gregory Shuttleworth and was born 1839 in Halliwell, Lancashire, England and died in Williamstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Her first husband James Orme died 21 Feb 1870 and she married second James Dando. Joseph Par Hiram Phillips died 1 April 1904 in Foster Township, his wife Eleanor died 6 Mar 1945 in Foster Township, and both are buried in the Methodist Cemetery. They had two children, Thomas Parr Phillips and Joseph Henry Phillips.
  3. Sarah Ann Phillips born 8 Nov 1858 in Mt. Pleasant and married Thomas Clinton Cockill.
