I think my grandmother (Jessie Ann Phillips Baker) was born in Arkansas and moved to Upton County (I think) when she was little. There might be some records in Little Rock.

Now then: Jessie Ann Phillips is the name we assume is correct. Some of her friends called her Anna, but I grew up calling her Ann, instead of Grandmother or variations. She hated the name "Jessie".

We never knew of her family except for Sam, her younger brother, of whom she was fond, and the names of her parents. She told different people different stories, so we have never known much. We assume that she was disowned when she became pregnant at the age of 19. That was not the thing to do in 1903. My aunt was born in 1904 and never knew anything about her father. She was named Anna Lee, possibly because her father might have been Lee. When Ann and Charles Loren Baker (he went by Lon) were married, Anne Lee took the Baker name although it was never official. My aunt was 6 when my mother was born. My grandfather had a son who was 13 when my mother was born. There was never any contact with her family after she left her home.

To finish with Anna Lee, she had a daughter, Norida Holmes,at age 20. Norida had a son, Gerry, at age 19, so my aunt was a grandmother at 39. Both my aunt and my cousin got divorced and remarried, my aunt was married and divorced 3 times. Gerry was born the year before I was and has a son. I have forgotten his name. They live in California.

My parents were Bessie and Sterling, who married in 1934. My mother hated the name Bessie and, as an adult, went by Betty. Marilyn Joy was born in 1936. Norman Baker, 1937 John Stuart, in 1940 or 41. He died at 11 months. Elizabeth Eileen, 1944 Richard Sterling, 1947 or 8. He died at 5 months.

Marilyn married Paul Dailey. No children

Norman married Rita Hughes, 2 children: 1.Norman Stephen (went by Steve) (died at 47 in 2006) married Karen McCord -- 2 sons: Brian Floeck and Kyle Floeck. Both of them are married and each has a child (I think)or will. I think Brian has a second one or will soon. 2.Vicky Lynn married Kevin Reim - daughter and son, Haley Reim and Tyler Reim. Haley just graduated from Texas A&M and Tyler is going there.

I married John Kalb and we have 2 daughters 1. Karrin Denise Kalb and 2. Leaza Suzanne Kalb Karrin married Erik Stolz and they have one daughter, Ellaleah Kalbstolz
