Biography
W. Haywood Phillips was born 8 May 1919 in Buies Creek, the second son of William Kearney Phillips[1] and Effie C. (Barker) Phillips.[2][3]
He was attending the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in the summer of 1940 when he registered for the draft.[4] He eventually graduated with a degree in Accountancy.[3]
He married Nancy Rosyter Parham on 7 March 1942 in Vance County, North Carolina.[5]
Accountant who owned his own firm in Henderson, North Carolina.
World War II in the American theater as a Lieutenant in the Supply Corps, U.S. Naval Reserve. He was a Disbursing Officer for the Naval Air Station, Coco Solo, Canal Zone
preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Parham Phillips , who died in 2000, and his brother, William Kearney Phillips Jr., formerly of Winston Salem.
survived by a son and two daughters; with numerous descendants
First Baptist Church in Henderson
Interment will be in the Columbarium Memorial Garden at the church.
