Allen Phillips was born in 1833 in Randolph County, West Virginia, son of William S. Phillips Sr. (1798 - >1860) and Susanah (Clark) Phillips (1803 - ).

• Am searching for the CORRECT parents of my great-great-grandfather, ALLEN PHILLIPS. Allen is listed in 1850 Randolph County VA (now WV) census with his parents WILLIAM & SUSANNA. Other siblings in census include ARTESMIA, JACKSON, HENRY G., LANNIRA, DANNIRA, MOSES, MARY, WILLIAM S. & CINDERILLA. Now, there are some very unusual names listed here. William is a very common name. Is there ANYONE out there that can link up with any of these names? My gggrandfather ALLEN was married to RACHEL CROSS sometime prior to 1852 (when my great-grandfather ABRAM was born). Rachel was the daughter of BARTON HOWERTON CROSS and sister of REV LEVI CROSS of Barbour County VA (now WV). My great-grandfather, ABRAM HIRAM PHILLIPS' eldest child and son of ALLEN & RACHEL is listed with his other siblings, DEBORAH ANNA SARAH, WILLIAM B (aka Berlem), SALLY in the 1870 LEWIS County WV census. ALLEN is known to have served in the 36th VA Infantry (CSA) mustered in June 1, 1861 from BOONE county VA. He went AWOL towards the end of the war and was given an honorable parole in 1865 and obviously moved his family to LEWIS CO. This is strange because LEWIS was known to be mostly UNION sympathizers, but he is listed with all the known children in the census. PLEASE, PLEASE is there anyone out there that knows anything about this ALLEN PHILLIPS and which WILLIAM/SUSANNA PHILLIPS are really his parents?
