Biography
Maria was married to David Davies. The 1870 United States Census recorded them living in New York City, David age 36 and Maria age 31, with their children Elizabeth, age 10; Florence, age 7; and Clarence, age 3. The household also included eight other people with no other surname listed (implying a name of Davies). Deborah (age 69) and Fisher (age 27 and a watch importer) were both born in South Carolina. Household members born in Ireland were: Bridget (age 35 and a cook), Sarah (age 32 and a nurse), Margaret (age 20 and a chambermaid), Annie (age 18 and a waitress), Bridget (age 24 and a seamstress), and Margaret (age 50 and a laundress).[1]
