Biography

Betsey Phillips , the daughter of William Phillips and Polly Dyer was born November 2, 1818[1] in Weld, Franklin, Maine.[2]

Betsey married Rufus Winn Libby (1820-1858) on November 7, 1849 in Avon, Franklin, Maine. The couple had 5 children.

  1. Charles Libby (1850-1852)
  2. Sarah Jane Libby (1852-1878)
  3. Florida Libby (1954-1861)
  4. Lewis R Libby (1857-1874)
  5. Clara M Libby 1859-1879)

They made their home in Avon, Franklin Maine, where in 1850, Rufus was Farming and Betsey was a Farmer's wife taking care of the home and his children, Augusta-5 and Helena-4.[3]

Her husband Rufus Winn passed away on November 24, 1858, in Avon, Maine, at the age of 38.[4] They had been married 9 years.

At age 41 and widowed, she and her children, lived in Avon, Franklin, Maine in 1860.[5]

She married Rodney Stearns (1805-1881) ca May 26, 1866 in Maine.

Her husband Rodney passed away on March 28, 1881, in Weld, Maine, at the age of 76. They had been married 14 years.

She died at age 77 on November 8, 1895 in Weld, Franklin, Maine and was buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Weld.[1]
