Joseph was born about 1738 and passed away about 1837
Joseph Phillips was born on 9 May 1738 to possibly Joseph Phillips and Mary Bennett in Bladen, North Carolina.
Joseph married Philadelphia Snell on 4 May 1762 in Orange, Colony of Virginia. They had thirteen children together
Joseph passed away on 3 September 1837 possibly in East Bend, Yadkin, North Carolina.
By 1772, Joseph Phillips shows up in the records of North Carolina, then a resident of Surry (an area which went through several name changes over the pre-colonial years, named variously, Rowan, Bladen and Anson County).[1]
He served in the American Revolutionary War, eventually attaining the rank of Captain.[2] By 1783, he had received at least one land warrant for his service.[3]
