Biography

George Phillips was born on March 17, 1874 in Newburg, Carleton, New Brunswick, Canada. His parents were James Phillips and Jane McLean. He married Grace Bragdon on December 26, 1898 Together they had 11 children:

He died on July 05, 1918 in Newburg, Carleton, New Brunswick, Canada

He had set some dynamite to blow up some ledge that was impeding road construction. The dynamite did not go off at the expected time. He went back to check it and the dynamite exploded as he was picking it up. He was killed in the blast.

A small roadside cross marks the spot.
