Biography

Jeremiah Phillips, owned one of the first mills in Foster, Rhode Island. His son, Whipple Van Buren Phillips, (Lovecraft's grandfather), was born on November 22, 1833. When Whipple was only thirteen, his father, still a young man, was accidentally killed in the mill's machinery.
