Lucinda was likely the female, age 10-16, living in the household of her uncle, John Philpott, on the 1820 U.S. Census at Henry County, Virginia.[1]
On 24 July 1826, Lucinda Philpot was named as a legatee in the distribution of the estate of her father, at Roane County, Tennessee (Roane County Estate Book B, 1829-1837, page 34).[2] She was not yet married.
Addison Riggs married Lucinda Philpott about 1826. This estimate is based on the fact that Lucinda was unmarried in July 1826, but had two young children by 1830.[3] The 1850 U.S. census showed that the eldest child in their home was born in Tennessee about 1827.[4]
In 1830, Lucinda was likely the female, age 20-29, living in the household of Addison Riggs at Rhea County, Tennessee. Living nearby, was Lucinda’s brother, Alexander Philpot, and Addison’s brother, Townley Riggs.[3]
In 1840, Lucinda was likely the female, age 30-39, living in the household of Adison Rigg at Meigs County, Tennessee. Living next door was Lucinda’s brother, Alexander Philpott.[5]
Lucinda Riggs appeared in the household of Madison Riggs on the 1850 U.S. Census at McMinn County, Tennessee. She was listed as 41 years old, and born in Virginia. She was living with her husband and ten children. Listed nearby were the households of Reuben, and William Fellpot (likely the sons of her brother, Alexander Philpott).[4]
Lucinda Riggs was listed as wife in the household of Adison Riggs on the 1860 U.S. Census at Monroe County, Tennessee. She was listed as 51 years old, and born in Virginia. She was living with her husband and seven children.[6]
Lucinda Riggs appeared in the household of Adison Riggs on the 1870 U.S. Census at Monroe County, Tennessee. She was listed as 61 years old, and born in Virginia. She was living with her husband and two children.[7]
Loucinda Riggs appeared as wife in the household of Adison Riggs on the 1880 U.S. Census at Monroe County, Tennessee. She was listed as 70 years old, and born in Virginia. It was reported that her parents were born in Maryland. Lucinda was living with her husband, son-in-law, daughter, and grandson.[8]
Lucinda Riggs died sometime after 1880. The place of her burial is unknown.
