Hi,

I think there is some misunderstanding of the meaning of suggestion 749. It is not about a difference between profile and official documents. It is about a cultural difference: many European cultures do not have the concept of middle name, they only know given names. So for Dutch (and Belgian) profiles all given names as recorded in the birth or baptism record must go into the Proper First Name item (and also into the Preferred Name item, unless you are sure a different preferred name was used when the person was alive). Furthermore the Middle Name item must be left empty and the "no middle name" button must be activated.

So there is no "false suggestion" applicable for these profiles.

Hi

Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.

Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As I always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.

Thank you for being a Wikitreer,

Guy Constantineau - Wikitree leader

Thanks for updating the profile of Rebecca (Garrett) Street. When you have a chance, would you link to or cite your sources for that information? Thanks!

Thanks for the well researched and documented father of my 5th great grand aunt Elizabeth Gittings! I won't change her name in my files but change Benjamin Gittings to an adopted father and add Edward to the biological father. Any idea why it took so long for this to reach the courts?

Hi L, I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Participation in a project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors?

Let me know, and I can help you figure out if there's a project that might interest you. Welcome aboard, we are glad to have you!

Hello L,

Welcome to WikiTree! The email you just got from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests -- fill in at least one of your Tags with the names, locations or historical events you're researching and click the "Save Tag(s) and Volunteer" button. One of our Greeters will come along and confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.
