Biography

Susannah Pickering apparently died when her daughter Martha Ing was born in 1825.[citation needed]

Research Notes

Internet rumor, many "pre internet" genealogies and MULTIPLE autosomal DNA connections suggest Susannah Pickering is the daughter of Benjamin Pickering and Rebekah (Ellis) Pickering. The problem is that there is not record found (so far) for this, both Benjamin and Rebecca left wills and no daughter named Susannah is mentioned.

Many seem to believe that Susan was a daughter of Benjamin Pickering and Rebecca Ellis, but there is no evidence to confirm this and she is not listed among their children. Matthew Ing's second wife, Sarah Sally Summers, states in her request for a service pension from Matthew that his first wife was names Susan SMOTHERS. There are a lot of Smothers living in the area at that time. Yet Susan Pickering is quite young in the marriage record that states her name is Pickering. I do not know if Sarah Summers remembered incorrectly or not. If Susan is a Pickering, I have not yet been able to discover who her parents are.
