Notes
Note on this note: It is unclear to whom this pertains.
Retained here pending a better placement for it.
Note N1018His son Thomas, b. 1617, removed to Hampton in 1639 and became a physcian. Later, he lived Salem where his daughter married Jonathan Pickering. Early chroniclers of the Cram familiy in NH state that Argentine Cromwell was realted to Oliver Cromwell, the Protector. This is probably true. There is considerable evidence to support this. Hi Hal, I notice you had again added Samuel Pickering back as the son of Jonathan Pickering, even though the comment below was very clear that they are not related. I have removed him again. Please make sure that you are using reliable sources for any change to a pre-1700 profile, which includes adding or changing relationships.
Hi Hal. I see you added Samuel as Jonathan’s son. I always thought that too, thus far DNA testing has shown otherwise. DNA results here. See also notes in Samuel’s profile and the comments of Susan James who is also the FamilyTree DNA Pickering project manager. I was part of the FamilyTree Pickering DNA project that examined both the Salem Non Quaker Pickerings and the Bucks County Quaker Pickerings. The Salem Pickering descendants are all in haplogroup is R-M173. Samuel Pickering’s descendants all are in haplogroup R-M269. Since you appear to be a direct descendant of Samuel, it might be helpful to add your DNA to the project. Based on these results, we disconnected Jonathan as Samuel’s father in 2019.
Pickering-2465 and Pickering-61 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents, almost same birth date, same wife, same child (see list in bio of -61). clearly the same person, so please merge them. Neither birth date is well sourced, but recommend the one on -61 as more precise and somewhat sourced. Given name is spelled Jonathan in most records.
