Research Notes

Martin married the sister of Joseph Blackwell, Jr. There was a very close relationship between Joseph & Martin. They owned a store "Pickett & Blackwell" that was mentioned in his LWT. He referred to him as 'my trusty friend and partner" and made him a co-executor of his will along with his brother, General John Blackwell. Martin's father, William, directed that certain lands be sold upon his the death of his wife, Elizabeth. Joseph Blackwell bought these lands and a year later sold most of them back to Martin.

Martin's brother William is said to have married a Lucy Blackwell Lucy (Blackwell) Pickett (1750-1823), but there is no source data cited. The age matches Joseph Blackwell's sister, Lucy, but more research is needed.
