James H. Pickett was born in 1819, in Indiana. He married Mary Pickett in 1837, in Indiana. The couple had eleven children. He served with Company H, 23rd Independent Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. He died in Missouri, in 1901, at the age of 82. Following Mary’s death in 1868, James married Elizabeth Seals, in 1869. They had two daughters. He died in 1901, in Missouri, at the age of 82.
