Biography

Charles Sinnett's Ancestry of Benjamin Dyer indicates that Louis Starr Pickett was the son of Sheldon Pickett and Marilla Barnum.

He was killed by the Indians at Sonora County, California. He was sent out with a company of men to quell an Indian insurrection under the command of Crab and McKinney; all of this company was killed by the savages except a man from Boston, Suffolk, Mass., who was kept a prisoner for a year.
