Biography

Sion Benjamin Jones Pierce was born 1804 in Carter, Tennessee. He was the sixth child of Hardy Pierce (1770) and Susan Cross (about 1772). He had two brothers (Richard Pierce (1799), John Morton Pierce (04 Mar 1807)) and six sisters (Susan Mary Pierce (22 Sep 1795), Nancy Pierce (1797), Rebecca Pierce (18 May 1801), Mary Polly Pierce (02 Feb 1802), Hanerette "Hannah" Pierce (1806), Sarah Sally Pierce (21 Oct 1809)).

When he was 46 years old, his father Hardy Pierce died (11 Feb 1851). When he was 55 years old, his mother Susan Cross died (1859).

On 25 Jul 1827, he married Elizabeth Heatherly (1806) in Carter, Tennessee.[1] He was 23 years old when he married Elizabeth Heatherly, who was 21 years old at that time. He had ten children with Elizabeth Heatherly: Columbus William Pierce (03 Jan 1828), Arthur M Pierce (06 Apr 1833), Robert P. Pierce (1833), Ewing Heatherly Pierce (1834), Alvin Pierce (1837), Samuel Anderson Pierce (10 Jun 1842), Mary Evelyn Pierce (1842), William Pierce (1846), S Lorina Pierce (18 Nov 1847), James Pierce (1850).

In 1860, he moved to 12th District, Overton, Tennessee. In 1865, he died in Overton, Tennessee when he was 61 years old.[2] He was buried in Bloomington, Pickett, Tennessee. His wife Elizabeth Heatherly died on 1855, 10 years before him.
