Biography

Persis (Pierce) Harrison immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Persis was born about 1626. She was the daughter of Thomas Pierce and his wife Elizabeth of Charlestown.[1]

Persis was born in England, probably about 1625, and came to Charlestown in 1634 with her family. "Peircis Bridges" was admitted to Charlestown church 30 November 1643 [ChChR 10]. [1]

Her identity as wife of William Bridge(s) "is deduced from the 1665 will of Thomas Pierce naming granddaughters Mary Bridge and Elizabeth Jefts [Tufts] living with them, and the Charlestown town record of 1646/7 calling William Bridges and Peter Tufts brothers.[MPR Case #17583; Charlestown Town Records, p 71]."[2]

After William Bridges's death, and no later than 6 May 1653, she had married, as his second wife, John Harrison of Boston, ropemaker, by whom she had ten more children [ChBOP 127].The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-33

She passed away about 1682.[citation needed]

Some sources identify her as Persis Lobdell, the wife of Simon Lobdell, but there is no authority for this identification [3]
