Don was born on 18 October 1930 in Lamont, Alberta, Canada. He was the son of John Alfred Pierce and Eva Lucina (McKenzie) Pierce.

In 1931, John and Eva lived at Tawatinau, Alberta, with their two children, Audrey (2) and Donald (7 months). John was farming, and Eva was a homemaker. ^[1]

Don married Olive May, and they had at least four sons and one daughter, including:

1. Gerald Arthur "Jerry" Pierce ^[2]

Don passed away at the age of 76 on 12 October 2007 in Valleyview, Alberta, Canada.
