DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Isaac by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Isaac:
I believe the main question is not to the Bemis line but whether Susanna is a Peirce, Pierce or Preist of which all families exist and have a daughter Susanna and the Priece and Priest spelling have been shown to be incorrect.
Peirce-1304 and Pierce-5462 are not ready to be merged because: As someone who has researched Susanna's lineage for almost 20 years, please give a strong thought to the spelling of PEIRCE. Not that DAR is any better than Wiki Tree, but I do know that there have been 14 applications submitted for Simeon Hagar w/spouse, Susanna Priece/Priest and they have all been denied because of the wrong spousal name - sad too because his military record is great. I just recently found the lineage with the spelling of PEIRCE in PEIRCE GENEALOGY being the Record of the Posterity of John Pers by Frederick Clifton Peirce (1880). Please let me know your decision. I thought it was general policy to prefer spelling from VR giving preference to birth record, with some latitude for pm,with exception for projects which set policy by family. I just try to get along.
Since there is no birth records for Susanna, only family information published in a family book, my preference is always records but in this case we do not have that info. Additionally, there are so many Susanna's during that period, I chose this against all those that have been deemed incorrect and the "intention" to marriage and marriage certificate for Susanna in her marriage to Simeon Hagar does also state her middle name as Suferena - hence I chose the spelling of Peirce.
The real question is as to the proper spelling of Susanna Hagar's maiden name of which the spellings of Pierce and Preist have been shown to be incorrect. Do not forget that both lines previously addressed Susanna's father as being named Isaac.
Too many sussanah bemis'. see bemis - 206, bemis - 94 and bemis - 430. I have looked through several publications. I am still a little confused but it looks like Bemis - 206 married viles - 35 and bemis - 430 married pierce - 5462 and bemis - 94 is actually bemis- 206. I am posting this on all of the above since I am really not sure.
