Biography

Stephen Condit Pierson, son of Aaron Howell Pierson and Mary Ogden, [1] was born in about November 1841 in Orange, Essex, New Jersey, United States

In 1850 the family was living in Burlington, Chittenden, Vermont. Stephen was 8 years old and had three siblings all born in New Jersey. [2] The reason for the family having moved again is not clear, but in 1860, they are in Hartford, Connecticut with all four children still in the household. [3] He 1st Married: Hannah P. Latimer, born of Simsbury, CT, USA. In 1880 Stephen (38) and Hannah (36) are living in Meriden, New Haven, Connecticut and have four children under nine years of age. [4] Three of Stephen and Hannah's children had two middle names; in the case of two who were daughters, the second name shown in the Latimer Family Bible p. 679) may be a married name. This possibility has not been explored.

Hannah died in 22 Sep 1883 (aged 39) and is buried in the Simsbury Cemetery Simsbury, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA [5] and Stephen married 2nd, Mina H. Hastings, born 12 April 1905 in Simsbury, Hartford, Connecticut. Mindwell Hastings Glazier and (45) Stephen Pierson (49).[6] Mindwell and Stephen had a daughterwho at 3 months, named Mindwell Pierson born 17 January 1905 and died 12 April 1905. [7] The 1900 census has Stephen (59) still living in Meriden, New Haven, Connecticut and his wife is Mindwell H Pierson, age 52 (Mina H born Hastings). His single sister, Elizabeth N Pierson (55) is also in the household. [8]

By 1910 Stephen (68) appears to have a third wife, Sarah Pierson (65) and his sister, Elizabeth is still living with them in Meriden, Newhaven, Connecticut. [9] Stephen died in 1918 in Meriden, New Haven County, Connecticut, USA[10]

I found the birth and death dates for Stephen's second wife, Mindwell Hastings. She is on the list of folks on the record below. I am assuming that her maiden name was Hastings.

Found it! I think that I probably miss such records of these because I don't notice where to look beyond what first comes up.

Whoever originally set up this profile for Stephen Condit Pierson has Mina H Glazier as the second wife, but with no source for it. The 1900 Census has her as Mindwell Pierson - the record that you found seems to clearly be the same Mindwell Hastings so I have changed her name on the profile for Stephen. Now she needs her own profile. In the 1910 Census Stephen appears to have a third wife - Sarah?

I have also not located sources for all of the children listed for Stephen and Hannah.

Yes, this was a strange situation...I found it when I was looking for the name of a Latimer, who is on that list. I really don't like using the Charles Hale collection as sources, because is it not an official record, but sometimes you can't find anything else.

I have been working on the many many profiles appearing on the Suggestion List correcting the Ct. to Connecticut from one specific profile manager who uses abbreviations for the states on profiles he creates. He may have over 100,000 profiles, but a whole lot of them need corrections for formats. Also, there were a lot of profiles created without sources, and then orphaned. Couldn't even take the time to add the "Unsourced" template...
