Notes

Photos provided by Sonya Selig (Jan 2013). I found your family lineage page online while researching the history of our home, known as The Old Stone House, in Maplewood, Essex County, NJ, which we purchased in 2010.

Apparently the home was part of the property of the Pierson family that included the two mills. Its early ownership is attributed to Joseph and Hepzibah Pierson. It is believed that the original one-room home was constructed in the early 1700s and the stone portion added on in the late 1700s. A kitchen was added to the original portion in the late 1960s, but otherwise the footprint hasn't been altered too much. In 1937 it was added to the Library of Congress as an Historic Building. It was owned by Asher B. Durand (famous engraver and Hudson School artist) and his family for a while, too. We love the home and it's history of the family who built it. It's an amazing example of the early farmsteads in New Jersey and the first "train station" in Maplewood when it was a flag stop on the Morris Essex train line before the Maplewood train station was built. It's a wonderful home and thought I'd share some recent and old pictures, in case you're interested and don't live in the area to see it in person.

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:
