Biography

Benjamin was born to Abraham and Hannah Pierson in Newardk in 1701.[1]

He moved to Morris County, New Jersey and settled on a tract he called "Piersonville". It was located 3 miles east of Morristown on the road from Whippany to East Hanover--now Madison. (Part of his land was later used for a Catholic convent and School).

Benjamin Pierson married Patience Coe, daughter of Benjamin and Mary Everett Coe, in Morristown,[2] about 1727, judging from the birth of their first child.

Benjamin died in Morristown on 2 August 1783.[3]

Benjamin and Patience had 12 children in Morristown:[4]

  • Sarah, b. 1733, married Mr. ____ Cook, they had Dr. Benjamin Cook

  • Isaac, b. 1737, married ___, had Darius and Penita
  • Patience, bp. 5 Feb 1744, m. Israel Lum
  • Aaron, b. 1746; married Mary Howell, d. 1803
  • Kezia, b. ____m. 28 Feb 1759 Augustin Bailey, then Thomas Fearels
  • Abraham, apparently died young
  • Daniel, b. 1750; married Prudence King, d. 1831 in Dayton, Ohio
