It was quite common for name spelling to be changed on entry to the U.S.A. the easiest way to check is use the Swedish birth records to track the family name, then check emmigration and passenger manifestos from Sweden to the U.S. and then check the port records where the family landed in the U.S.
That research will show any change in name from the original birth/marriage certificate to the entry into the U.S.
